The environmentally friendly lead substitute from Leadax can be used like rolled lead and, in addition to the ecological aspect, offers installers other advantages:

The sustainable alternative to rolled lead

Unlike conventional wall-chimney flashings, the FLECK ECO FORM products are made from recycled polyvinyl butyral (PVB). This is acquired from high-quality automotive laminated glass interlayer films in a special recycling method. Leadax, the manufacturer of the product, processes the raw material to produce FLECK ECO FORM EASY. The expanded metal used is aluminium. By reusing the recycled raw material, a contribution is made to reducing global waste.

FLECK ECO FORM have been tested for durability and watertightness by the Dutch test institute Kiwa. The result: ECO FORM products have convincingly high ageing and long-term resistance. The watertightness with a water column of 10,000 mm was tested for at least 25 years and confirmed. And if the product is replaced at some time, Leadax the material can be used to produce new ECO FORM EASY, ECO FORM MAX or ECO FORM BASIC.

In addition, in February 2023, FLECK ECO FORM EASY was awarded the sustainability certificate by the Central Association of German Roofing (Zentralverband des Deutschen Dachdeckerhandwerks e. V. (ZVDH)). In October 2023, awards followed for ECO FORM MAX and ECO FORM BASIC. Before the certification, the products had to pass through an extensive test process, because to obtain the “sustainable product” marking, strict criteria regarding production, product properties and recyclability must be met. The assessment criteria of the ZVDH are based on the “Sustainable building rating system of the Federal Government” (BNB) in Germany as well as the state “Sustainable building quality seal” (QNG). With the new certificate, the ZVDH wants to show roofer firms and owners, in a simple way, which products are based on sustainable principles.

Available in three colours

ECO FORM MAX and ECO FORM EASY are available in from FLECK in three standard colours, ECO FORM BASIC in two colours.

 

Easy to use

Thanks to the use of polyvinyl butyral (PVB), among other things, the FLECK ECO FORM products are 75 percent lighter than conventional lead, which simplifies its use. They can also be effortlessly cut and moulded. In addition, the lead substitute from Leadax has high extensibility without forming cracks. The material can be moulded by hand or, if necessary, with the help of a dresser or roller.
